Pets have always been very welcome at Penlan Bach, and many of our regular guests who stay with us bring their dogs simply because it is such a good area for holidays with animals. However we do have a couple of points which we would like to draw to your attention.
For the comfort of all our guests we must insist that pets are never allowed on the chairs or beds, and also ask that they are never left in Penlan Bach alone. We had a very unfortunate experience many years ago when a little dog was left alone for an hour or so and became very distressed. Whilst his owners were out for a meal he did quite a lot of damage to the kitchen. You will find most local pubs are happy for dogs to accompany diners in the bar, and the two pubs in Llangynidr both accept dogs.
The lane at the side of the house which leads down to the river is a dead-end so it has no traffic and is a great spot for the necessary 'comfort walks'. Guests and pets have full use of the garden, but we must point out that the wall at the front of the house is only about 15inches high so it is not pet proof. You will need to be with your dog if it is in the garden.
We hope responsible owners will fully understand why we need to make the above points, and we can assure you they do not mean your dog is unwelcome. If regular visitors like Frankie, Toby, Libby, Carrie and Jester could write I am confident they would give Penlan Bach the thumbs-up ( or paws-up ) for doggy holidays.
Pets don’t even have to climb Pen y Fan like Libby ( as seen below in October 2010 ) – it is perfectly OK to lie in front of the fire and take it easy. After all, that is what holidays are for!
