Fishermen should check the Usk and Wye website for fishing in the area and for those who fancy having a go, why not ask at Gliffaes Hotel about fly fishing lessons on the River Usk?

Lessons can be booked in advance for those wanting to improve their casting or for complete beginners.

Cyclists who come without their own bikes can hire a selection, which even includes a tandem, from Drovers Bike Hire – a very reliable local business who will deliver the bikes to you, and there are enough local trails here to keep you pedaling for weeks.

We have safe storage for your bikes and local bike engineer in the event of problems.

There is sailing at nearby Llangorse Lake and a Multi Activity Centre for the daring where you can rock-climb and tackle various outdoor assault courses. Pony trekking centres are dotted around the National Park, and from the stables at Tregoyd you will be taken immediately into the heart of the Black Mountains as soon as you have saddled up.

There are eighteen hole golf courses at Brecon and Abergavenny with breath taking views of the Beacons from the Cradoc course.

It is sometimes possible to hire a canal boat by the day and we have details of local boat hire companies which you can ask for.

The National Park contains numerous geocaches for those who like to add a little fun to their walks with some treasure hunting en route – this is a great occupation to encourage younger walkers into the hills and many older walkers are hooked too!
