Croeso - Welcome to Penlan Bach
In the Brecon Beacons National Park
Welcome to our Visit Wales 4 Star Self Catering Riverside Accommodation on the South bank of the River Usk overlooking the 16th Century Llangynidr Bridge. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, Penlan Bach sleeps four on the edge of Llangynidr village, midway between The Brecon Beacons and The Black Mountains, and close to the lively village of Crickhowell. Whether you already know this magical area - or whether it is your first visit - you will find Penlan Bach an ideal holiday home from which to explore the 500 square miles of beauty that is the Brecon Beacons National Park.

If you are seeking trendy holiday cottages with tiny rooms and low ceilings then please move on from our website now, as that is not what we provide. If you are searching for a remote barn conversion with draughts and poor heating included in your rental, we are not that either. But if you want a very special property, where friendly dogs are also welcome, within walking distance of the village shop and two pubs, then please read on. Our award winning holiday accommodation with great views down the Usk Valley is on the edge of the village – quiet, but not remote – and we provide all that we ourselves would like to find in a holiday cottage when we go on vacation. We also have a large garden containing mature trees where guests can relax at any time.

Our first guests stayed here in 1976 when Penlan Bach was built as an extension to the original cottage, Penlan, where we ourselves still live. We quickly gained a reputation for quality holidays and in 1978 we were one of the first winners of Wales Tourist Board Dragon Award for self catering accommodation. We are now recognised as one of the Brecon Beacons Ambassadors – an award earned for knowledge of the area coupled with exemplary customer care.

Guests arriving at Penlan Bach will find a spotlessly clean “Home from Home” that is owner maintained, and prepared for you by people who care. We guarantee you will have nothing to do on arrival at your holiday home except unpack and relax. Tea and Welsh cakes will be ready for you. You will find warm, well furnished rooms, comfy beds, lots of towels, and those little extras that will make you feel at home. Many of our guests return year after year, and some regularly bring their dog for a holiday as pets are always welcome as long as they are friendly, well behaved dogs who don’t chase “The Neighbours”
"Simply the best equipped self catering we have ever stayed in”.
